Series: Robots in Disguise
Alternate Mode: Sports Car
Height: 2cm Length: 7.5cm Width: 3cm
Crosswise is a transparent sports car, with blue paint on the _inside_ of the car's panelling, red stripes on the bottom of the doors and the spoiler. The windows are painted black, the rear-mounted engine is silver & black, he has a G1 Autobot Symbol on his roof and there's a silver "X" on his hood.
This car mode seriously rocks. There's no other way to say it, really. The combination of clear plastic and blue paint underneath the plastic makes for a _very_ cool colour scheme. The G1 Autobot symbol is also cool.
It's worth mentioning that Crosswise is a slight repaint of Takara's X-Car from Car Robots - the main differences being the red paint & Autobot symbol. He lacks the rub-symbol feature X-Car has on his side window.
In my opinion, this has always been the best Gobot/Spychanger mould, in fact it's the mould Raksha chose for Nightracer 1994, since she thought it was the best of the bunch also. He has axles so he can roll freely & straight. He can use a Hot Wheels style track, although I don't have any so I miss out on that feature )c8
TRANSFORMATION TO ROBOT MODE
Pretty simple. Pull down the rear to form the legs, fold down the hood to form the chest, pull out the arms.
Height: 7cm Width: 4cm
With clear arms, transparent bluey chest & lower legs, his robot mode looks as cool as his car mode. He's got red thighs and a red groin, red face & a silver head. His gun is red. The big "X" is now on his chest, and is the 'cross' in Crosswise.
He looks rather strange, but as I said the robot mode looks good. The red plastic revealed in this mode actually works to enhance the clear & blue of the car mode. It's hard to really compare his colour scheme to anything, it's so different.
The robot mode doesn't have any of the flaws that some other Gobot moulds have, it looks pretty sleek and stylish.
Well, he's a variation of X-Car, as mentioned. He also shares his mould with the earlier Gobots Highbeam, Nightracer & Bumblebee.
Probably the best toy released in this entire range - in my books he's overtaken Highbeam at the top of the pile.. due totally to the colour scheme (well, they _are_ identical moulds). Takara's done a terrific job of this toy - both the paint job and the plastic colours are good. To their credit. Hasbro left it largely alone, adding a G1 Autobot symbol to actually make it better. Of course, there are those out there who hate Spychangers, and I don't expect them to like this guy. Assuming you can get into Spychangers, I'd really recommend this guy.. even if you don't like Wars, whom he comes packaged with (X-Car is pretty much impossible to find). As Spychangers go, I rate this guy 10/10, since there's really no downside to him
