Name: Scrapper
Series: Generation 1
Allegiance: Decepticon
Function: Construction Engineer
Alternate Mode: Payloader

PAYLOADER MODE
Height: 4cm Length: 9.5cm Width: 4cm

He's green. He's a Constructicon. Scrapper's only non-green parts in this mode are his tyres, in fact. The roof of the cabin is a slightly different shade of green, but it's green. You can add a splash of purple by adding the chestplate for Devastator (which he comes packaged with) as wings on the back of the vehicle, although a flying payloader looks pretty weird.

Lime green aside, he's got big plastic tyres (the same as Long Haul's tyres), and a big shovel on the front. The shovel moves up and down thanks to a joint at the base of its arms, but there's no joint at the shovel end of these arms - the arms and shovel are one piece. You can sort of see his robot arms on the sides of this mode, but they do a good enough job of being steps for a driver to get into the cab that it's not a big issue.

While somewhat simple, it's not bad. An extra joint (or set of them, really) at the shovel's end of the arms would have made him a lot better, though.

TRANSFORMATION TO ROBOT MODE

Flip the rear section over to form the feet, lift the shovel halfway, pull the head out and fold the shovel the rest of the way. Position the arms and give him a gun.

ROBOT MODE
Height: 9.5cm Width: 4cm

Scrapper's abundance of lime green continues into his robot mode, on his arms & lower legs, but his thighs are chrome silver, his torso is purple and his head black (with a silver face). A good colour scheme, despite the use of green & purple - they're well blended.

Scrapper can move his arms at the shoulders, and you can fold his knees - thanks to the transform - but that's it for poseability. His body proportions are good, although his head is rather square, when it probably didn't have to be. The shovel on his back does make him back heavy but he still stands ok.

VARIATIONS

There was the late G1 "European" Scrapper & the yellow and orange G2 versions, but no variations of G1 Scrapper as such.

OVERALL

One of the better Constructicons, he's also one of the simplest, but he works well. Of course he's not poseable and while for G1 fans this isn't always a bad thing, if you want a poseable toy you'll be disappointed. Necessary for Devastator, which in itself is a reason to get him, but otherwise I'd give him 7/10
