Name: Skyfall
Series: Generation 1
Allegiance: Autobot
Function: Weapons Engineer
Alt Mode: None (was a fighter jet)

ROBOT MODE
Height: 10cm Width: 4.5cm

A curious mix of deep crimson, Day-Glo red and white, Skyfall is mainly crimson with a red head, red thighs, white boots, elbows and hands. His eyes are blue while his mouthplate is orange and his crest yellow. There are some baby blue details on his waist and a blue patch which is clearly a jet canopy on his back. While this is a fairly poor mix of colours, Skyfall actually ends up looking fairly nice, although his head is a little muddled since there are so many colours there.

It's not just the canopy that implies Skyfall's former alt mode. There are air intakes behind his head (as on Thundercracker and the other seekers) and vestigial wings on the back of his forearms. And of course there's the name, which is dripping with irony considering that he's lost a flight mode!

Skyfall's lines are very angular, but as you'd expect on a fighter the angles are rarely neat - so while there are a lot of straight lines there are very few right angles or perpendicular surfaces. His fists are probably the only rounded parts of the toy and right angles are really only in places where they have to be - the forearm cross-section for example.

Despite being the main colour, the dark crimson is painted over white plastic. I got my Skyfall second hand and with all the corners and edges on this angular toy, there are a lot of corners with chipped paint. So I suppose I'll have to count this combination as a weakness.

Poseability is the same as every other Actionmaster - head turns, arms rotate and legs have G.I. Joe poseability (fully poseable hips, knees bend 90 degrees). His handgun is purple plastic, which adds yet another colour to his mix, and really would have been better in white.

THE PARTNER - TOP-HEAVY

What's with the name? Was Skyfall one big joke in the Marvel character department or something? The sad part is that the name fits for an entirely different reason. Here we are with a crimson, red and white Actionmaster, and for some reason he's been given a partner that's fluorescent orange and bright purple. Top-Heavy is a mainly orange rhino with purple limbs and head, and an orange tail.

On his own Top-Heavy has a fairly good mould for an Actionmaster sidekick, but the colour scheme in isolation is questionable and simply shocking next to Skyfall. The colours here _really_ drags Skyfall down (oh the irony!). The gun mode is big and bulky as are most Actionmaster weapons, and in these colours it looks best _not_ attached to Skyfall (actually, it looks best with the light off). When it comes down to it, Top-Heavy is a bit of a fizzer, I'm afraid.

VARIATIONS

   None that I know of.

OVERALL

With interesting colours and a good alt mode theme, Skyfall is one of the more unusual Actionmasters. He never appealed to me when on sale in the stores - although at that time I had a pretty limited budget - but there's definitely a charm here. My second-hand Skyfall came without Top-Heavy and the partner's colours are so poorly matched to Skyfall that I'm actually kinda _glad_ I don't have it. Skyfall isn't a toy I really recommend, since the partner is a large part of the play value of Actionmasters. Having said that, if you like Actionmasters for the figures themselves (as I do), then he's worth considering - 5.5/10
