Name: Jetfire
Series: Masterpiece
Allegiance: Autobot
Function: Logistics
Alternate Mode: Plane

PLANE MODE
Height: 8cm Length: 22cm Width: 22cm
A red, white and blue plane with white wheels, Jetfire has some metal here and there. The colours are a vague match to those we saw on Skyfire in the cartoon, although not perfect. Jetfire himself never appeared in the cartoon due to licensing issues, so Skyfire was effectively his alter-ego. I much prefer Skyfire's colours, but Jetfire's are alright.
This is an interesting looking plane mode, and the dimensions make for an impressive toy. Mind you this isn't a very solid plane. The white propellor is a nice touch, although it has a tendency to droop. The wing surface area makes Jetfire look a lot bigger than he actually is, which could be good or bad depending on your perspective.
The play value here is interesting - he's the only Transformer toy capable of flight. It's a really good idea in theory but you'll find the plane will fly about 5cm and then nosedive or go into a death spiral. Either way, you'll find yourself having to retrieve a wheel or two after impact.
This is Jetfire's better mode but I can help wanting more. Skyfire's jet mode looked so cool, yet the toyline gave us this plane, which is nowhere near as nice. The gimmick's failure really holds Jetfire back.
TRANSFORMATION TO ROBOT MODE
Fold back the wings, swing out the legs and position the arms.
ROBOT MODE
Height: 40cm Width: 8cm
Again white red and blue, with some metal here and there and some brown on his torso. The colours again aren't quite as nice as those of Skyfire, and the brown bugs me. I really wish there were stickers on this toy, the torso needs more detail and stickers would have been an easy way to accomplish this.
The metal is now more of a liability than an asset, since it forms the bulk of his arms and makes for a top-heavy toy with rather wiry looking arms. In fact there's very little play value here. The knees bend and that's it. I'm always worried that something's going to break off - he _feels_ flimsy. The lack of accessories doesn't help, of course - a handgun would go a long way here. There's no flight gimmick in this mode.
A forgettable robot mode with next to no play value. There are some annoying aspects of the colour scheme. Some stickers and accessories would help considerably, but as it is this thing just feels cheap.
VARIATIONS
None that I'm aware of.
OVERALL
A terrible toy, it's probably a good thing we had Skyfire in the show rather than Jetfire. Having said that, I was always disappointed that instead of the uber cool Skyfire I was only able to buy this guy, with his dull plane mode and simple robot mode. Not a toy I'd recommend at all - 1/10
